He got up, and padded over to the door, opening it as the pounding continued unabated. "Hi." "Hey...you're soaked..." "No kidding." Donna's hair was matted to her scalp, and her suit clinging to her body. Josh tried really hard not to focus on that. "It's raining now?" "What do you think?" Donna growled, crossing past Josh into his room. Josh scurried past her into the bathroom and returned with a fluffy white towel. He wrapped it around her shoulders. "Thanks." "You guys just get in?" Donna nodded, pushing her soggy bangs out of her face. "I know you told me this, but why was the flight delayed so long?" "Excessive fog." "For six hours?" "You couldn't see a fucking thing out the airport windows," she hissed. "Fucking Newark." Donna snorted. "The event went well, though, right?" "It was fine." "Just fine?" "It went well, I'm just-" "Tired and cranky?" Donna glared at him, then chuckled and nodded. "I won't keep you. You can tell me more about it in the morning." "I can now..." "Go sleep." Donna sighed, pulling the towel more tightly around her. "What?" "Is there a couch in the conference room?" "They gave your rooms away?" Donna nodded. "Cause it's so late." "Mrs. Santos obviously went to the Congressman's room. Where did Annabeth go?" "She muttered something about there being a couch in Leo's suite as we sloshed through the lobby." "It wasn't raining when we got back like an hour ago." "The sky opened up while we were in the car from the airport." "You're not sleeping in the conference room in your soaked suit." "Oh. Oh. And the best part? Our bags did not arrive with us." "No..." "So this fucking suit is what I have to wear tomorrow," She pulled the towel tighter around her, and leaned against the wall. Josh crossed over to his suitcase and pulled out a t-shirt and pair of boxer shorts. "Dry off." She cocked an eyebrow at him. "You can stay here." "Yeah?" He nodded. "Go change." "Thanks." She took the clothes from his and went into the bathroom. Josh climbed back onto the bed, and tried to focus on the finance memo. He kept glancing at the bathroom door. A few minutes later, Donna emerged, looking slightly happier. "Better?" "Much." "Good." "Tomorrow. I'm gonna regret not drying my hair, but I just don't feel like it." "The braid's cute." "It's gonna be a curly mess tomorrow." "Or you could just re-braid it." Donna smiled. "I could." She climbed in beside him. "I, uh, hung up all my stuff on the shower rod, just so you aren't surprised." Josh smiled. "Sleep." "You're going to too, right?" "You want the light off?" "I mean, if you need to keep working...but..." "I can go to bed. This be the earliest I've gone to bed in months." "What time is it?" "Only 12:30." "It feels so much later." "You've been on the East Coast all day." "3:30..." "Right." "You don't have to go to bed early on my account." "It's fine," he smiled, climbing out of the bed, and crossing back to his suitcase. He kicked off his pants, tossing them on the floor, and routed through the bag, scowling, before crossing towards the bathroom. "You're going to wear your dress shirt to bed?" "Wouldn't be the first time." "You gave me your last t-shirt?" He nodded sheepishly. "It's fine." "Okay..." "I'll be right out." Josh closed the door, and his eyes went wide. Donna wasn't kidding when she said she hung up all her stuff. Not only were her suit and blouse hanging up, but also her under garments. Josh took a deep breath, and finished up his business. "I half expected to find you passed out already." "I figured you'd just wake me up when you climbed back in..." "Hey!" "You're not known for being quiet." "I can be." "Uh huh." He climbed in on her right side, and turned on his side to face her. "This is weird." "It's not like we've never done this before." "No...it's not that...I...it'll sound stupid..." "What?" "Never mind." "What?" She looked up at him, then buried her face in the pillow. "It's stupid." "Go ahead..." he lay his hand on her shoulder, smiling. "I've never slept on this side..." she murmured into the pillow. "You've never...hunh....you haven't?" She shook her head. "Well, this is the side your wound was on, so I was always... "Over here." "Yeah. I told you it would sound stupid." Josh grinned, and crawled over her. "Better?" She laughed, and rolled to face him. "Let's sleep." He clicked off the lamp. They were about 2 feet apart, and his hand met hers under the covers. He squeezed it lightly. As he went to let go, she held on. He scooted closer. He couldn't see her, but he knew they were now very close. She closed the distance, laying her head on his shoulder. He snaked his arm around her, and pulled her to lay on his chest, kissing the top of her head. "Sleep." "Mmmhmmm..." They quickly drifted off to sleep.
